The interim government has today confirmed that mobile phone and fixed line operators can go to the Commerce Commission if they have any issues in relation to the current price control on call and text rates.

Digicel Fiji confirmed earlier this week that they will offer the most competitive call rates to the people of Fiji and they would not follow the rates set by the Commerce Commission, and will definitely go below the call rate.

Vodafone Fiji Managing Director Aslam Khan also said the open competition will result in the market dictating the rates and they will write to the Commerce Commission soon to remove the current price control.

Interim Attorney General and Communications Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the matter will be left to the Commerce Commission and the telecommunications operators.
