The experience players in the Digicel Fiji 7s team are what assistant coach Eddy Waqa will bank on in the Australia 7s this weekend.

After having two training run since arriving in Gold Coast, Waqa in his first assignment with a new coaching task will look into the depth in his team to guide him through the pool games knowing that only Senivalati Vunibola is new to top overseas rugby.

Jimilai Naikadawa is also playing his first IRB Sevens tournament with young Semi Radradra but both players have played in the 15s code abroad for the national team in the Europe tour and also the Junior Rugby World Cup this year.

Seasonal players like captain, Setefano Cakau, Watisoni Votu, Emosi Vucago, Osea Kolinisau, Joeli Lutumailagi, Livai Ikanikoda and James Brown have been playing in this IRB circuit for some time and it is what Waqa believes will do the job for them.

The Fiji 7s team’s first match at the Australia 7s will be against Niue at 5.25pm this Friday.

Fiji will play Kenya at 8.31pm and the final pool match will be against New Zealand at 12.14am on Saturday.
