The Flying Fijians coaching staff’s final decision on who will travel to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand will be based on how some of the players can be used as utility players.

Judging from the current 35 member squad the axe will fall in the locks position, halfback, prop and wing and the hooker will have to wait when the announcement is made on Saturday.

The selectors will drop one of the 4 props in Deacon Manu, Campese Ma’afu, Wise Daveta and Setefano Somoca.

Also at lock with Wame Lewaravu, Rupeni Nasiga and the injury duo of Sekonaia Kalou and Ifereimi Rawaqa will be decided by the medical report.

Current halfback, Vitori Buatava is certain to be the first choice while Nemia Kenatale and Wise Vatuvoka will have to battle it out for the second candidate.

In the wings, Vereniki Goneva is set to travel with the team while the remaining two spots will be between Napolioni Nalaga, Michael Tagicakibau, Timoci Nagusa and Ilikena Bolakoro.

It is likely that 2007 World Cup reps, Sunia Koto, Wame Lewaravu, Netani Talei, Sisa Koyamaibole, Akapusi Qera, Nicky Little, Wise Luveniyali and Gabby Lovobalavu will again be named in the team.

The Fiji team to the World Cup will be named in Sigatoka on Saturday but tomorrow at 4.30pm, Fiji will take on Tonga at Churchill Park and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM.
