Newly appointed Digicel Fiji’s team coaches, Alifereti Dere and Etuate Waqa might opt for experience in the naming their first team for the opening leg of the IRB 7s series this month in Gold coast.

With less than two weeks to prepare a team that will take our hopes to Australia, the duo are likely to place their hope and belief on those players that are used to top 7s rugby.

With some of the Army boys likely to miss out due to travel sanctions, the two coaches might still have the likes of Setefano Cakau, Watisoni Votu, Livai Ikanikoda, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Joeli Lutumailagi, Emosi Vucago, Pio Tuwai, Osea Kolinisau, James Brown and new faces like Lepani Botea and Waisale Dau.

The likes of Nikola Matawalu, Dale Tonawai, Aminisai Nava, Sikeli Vuruna and Josaia Lotawa would be considered for Dubai and South Africa 7s.

The 12 member Digicel Fiji 7’s team to Australia 7s will be named at 2.30 this afternoon.

Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Kenya and Niue and will play Niue in the first pool match at 5.25pm on the 25th of this month.
