National Football Under 20 coach, Ravinesh Kumar stands by his selection to start Rusiate Matirerega off the bench who scored the winning goal yesterday in Fiji's 3-2 against Vanuatu.
Kumar said Matirerega is a better player off the bench.
In what could have been a disastrous start to the campaign for Fiji, Matirerega showed his class and made the difference as the team scored three second half goals.
Team director Tarunesh Reddy yesterday said they were concerned with Kumar's decision to sit Matirerega on the bench in first half.
Fiji's next game is against New Caledonia at 4.30pm tommorrow.
