The closure of schools will hopefully be the last option in the event of the impending strike by the Fijian Teachers Association.
Speaking to Village News, Interim Education Minister, Netani Sukanaivalu said Education Ministry personnel have been tasked with looking at alternative options like moving school children to nearby schools.
When questioned on the impracticality of such a move considering space restrictions, Sukanaivalu said the closure of schools will be the last option after all other avenues are considered.
The FTA, along with the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Union affiliates, Public Employees Union and Viti Taukei Workers Union plan to go on strike on the 2nd of August.
