Close to 4000 members of the Fiji Teachers Union have cast their votes today to elect the union's executive committee.
11 positions are being contested including the position of president, his 2 vice presidents, general secretary, general treasurer, personal officer and 3 executive officers.
Elections were being held nationwide in Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Sigatoka, Labasa, Savusavu and Seaqaqa.
Some candidates for the national president position are Jai Prakash Narayan and Jowahir Lal and for the general secretary position is Agni Deo singh and Basundra Kumar.
The election results are expected to be announced tonight.
