Villagers in Naimasimasi, Vugalei in Tailevu had a close call yesterday when they nearly buried the body of a person they did not know.

The funeral which was held yesterday after the church service had to be put on hold after they received a call from the rightful family of the deceased saying that they had mistakenly been given the body of another person.

Village news has received information that the family then had to bring the body back to Suva at their own expense and investigations are now underway by CWM officials on why they were given the wrong body.

The funeral finally got underway after the right body was brought back to the village.
