The 2010 Coca Cola Games is expect to have some close races in the track events while the field is again likely to test the strength of Marist Brothers High School as they try to end their 3 years losing streak in the boys division.

With more than 2,000 athletes taking part the highlight of day 1 will be the finals of the blue ribbon event in the boys and girls division.

A four way battle looms in the senior boys 100 metres where Marist Brothers High School sprinter, Banuve Tabakaucoro is the front runner to win the event, but has the likes of defending champion Mataiasi Savou,  Sila Central Nikotimo Radiva and Lelean's Isoa Me to face in this race.

In the senior girls 100 metres, a new winner will be crowned this year after defending champion Salote Niulevu of Suva Grammar failed to reach the Coke Games.

The Grammarian camp will rely on former 400 metres champion Paulini Korowaqa to win the event after coming in first during the Suva Zone 2 meet, but she is expect to face challenges from ACS Seleima Baleivesi and Mere Seniloli.

Other interesting races will be the junior girls 100 and 200 metres where current national school reps Elenoa Sailosi of ACS will face off with Sisilia Seavula of Saint Joseph Secondary School.

In the intermediate 100 metres final for the boys, Lepani Naivalu is eyeing to win gold for Grammar and will be up against school mate Waisale Ledua who came in second during the finals of the Suva Zone 2.

The 2010 Coca Cola Games will start on Friday at the TFL Stadium.
