The Land Transport Authority has so far received close to 900 applications for new taxi permits in the Central Division.
Spokesperson, Ratu Eroni Volavola said any members of the public can apply and this is not raced based.
He adds there is no quota on how many permits will be issued and the LTA Board will decide on when to freeze all PSV permit applications.
There are certain requirements to be fulfilled before you can apply for a new taxi permit. You must have a base letter from the Town Council or the rural authority, more than $6,500 in your bank account or a vehicle suitable for a taxi if you intend to apply for a taxi permit or $10,000 for mini bus application and you need to study the route you will be operating on.
