The first meeting of the Climate Change Country committee got underway this morning with the appointment of its Chairperson as well as the definitions of the role the Committee plays discussed.
Minister for Local Government, Colonel Saumatua while opening the first meeting this morning stressed that the committee needs to look at immediate action as Climate change is affecting Fiji in subtle ways.
Colonel Samuela Saumatua also added that climate change is a very important issue when looking at the long term development of a small country like Fiji.
The committee which is chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Forestry, Commander Villiame Naupoto this morning discussed their membership, roles and even the different types of project that needed to be undertaken.
