The New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clarke has refused to have any meetings with Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama at the 38th Pacific Leaders Forum in Tonga.

Our News Director, Vijay Narayan who is in Nuku'alofa filed this report.

"NZ Prime Minister Helen Clarke has said that she will not have any meetings with Fiji Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama in Pacific Islands Leaders Forum here in Tonga.  Although Bainimarama had told us yesterday that he is ready to explain Fiji’s situation to NZ and Australia. Clarke has told Legend FM News that she has no intention of meeting Bainimarama.

Clarke did not attend the Commonwealth Secretary General Don MacKinnon’s dinner last night here in Nuku’alofa because Mackinnon had invited Bainimarama. Clarke says she boycotted Mackinnon’s dinner because she believes that Bainimarama should have been suspended from all commonwealth events.

Bainimarama had sent his apologies to MacKinnon saying that he had a prior booking for a dinner with the former Fiji business council. He is expected to meet Mackinnon this evening."
