The New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark is concerned that Fiji looks set to boycott the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum and said the situation in Fiji is casting a stain on the Pacific.

The New Zealand Business Review reports Clark as saying that New Zealand had given Commodore Frank Bainimarama no excuse for avoiding fronting up Pacific leaders about plans to return Fiji to democracy.

Clark said Bainimarama is avoiding fronting up to the Forum after breaking the promise he made to hold elections early in 2009 and she added that whether Commodore Bainimarama showed up or not, the forum would consider a ministerial contact group report on Fiji.

The New Zealand prime Minister added that the Pacific Leaders would feel snubbed most definitely if that is indeed Commodore Bainimarama's position.
