He is rugby league's supreme gladiator.

In fact, Petero Civoniceva now has claims to be rated as the greatest warhorse in the game's century long history.

Fox Sports Stats has revealed extraordinary figures which illustrate the sheer resilience and toughness of Civoniceva, the ageless Australian and Penrith front rower.

Over the past 10 years since debuting for Queensland, Civoniceva, has played 27 out of a possible 30 State of Origin games.

In the same time frame he has played 43 of a possible 48 Test matches, including Sunday's 34 14 win over England in Melbourne.

Civoniceva's 43 Tests since 2001 is the most of any player in the world during that period while Darren Lockyer is second on 39 tests and England's Jamie Peacock third on 37.

The Queensland prop is already the most capped Test forward of all time in Australia.
