Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain Petero Civoniceva is proud of how they stopped Samoa this morning in their Rugby League World Cup quarterfinal.
Fiji put up a brave and solid performance to beat the much favored Samoan side 22-6 and confirm their semifinal spot where they will play Australia.
Civoniceva said the support from Fiji is overwhelming knowing that rugby union is the national sport.
Man of the match Aaron Groom and Wes Naiqama both scored first half tries while Vitale Junior Roqica went over later in the game.
Naiqama converted all three tries and kicked two penalties for the Bati, who played with great composure.
Antonio Winterstein scored the only try for Samoa.
Fiji will now hope to do better than the 54-nil drubbing they received from the Kangaroos in the 2008 RLWC semifinal and their 34-2 loss to Australia in pool play.
Vodafone Fiji Bati Coach Rick Stone said their defence stood out.
The win not only enables Fiji a spot in the semis but they are expected to join the Four Nations competition next year which includes New Zealand, Australia and England.
The Bati will be the first Fijian sporting side to play at Wembley Stadium with a capacity sitting of 90,000 but over 70,000 tickets have been sold for the semi finals.
Both semifinals will be played this Sunday with the Vodafone Fiji Bati playing Australia at 4:30am while New Zealand will meet England at 2am.
