Petero Civoniceva's career may be over after he was dumped from Australia's team for Saturday night's Four Nations rugby league final.

According to stuff.co.nz, 34 year old Civoniceva will not feature in the Roos side after displaced from the bench by Nate Myles.

Civoniceva said coach Tim Sheens had made the right call but refused to say if he had retired.

Civoniceva said no one owes him anything and it is just been an honour to play in the jersey.

Civoniceva blamed a long season on his poor form but said he would be back in green and gold for next year's Anzac test in Christchurch.

Sheens said in Brisbane yesterday about the anguish he faced in making his decision, saying, you've got to hand the reins over.

The 2010 Four Nations final between New Zealand and Australia is set to kick off at 10.15pm this Saturday.
