Former Fiji Bati player Petero Civoniceva has escaped for a four-day break with his family, as he recovers from the racial scandal that has damaged the game.

NSW police were last night called into assist the investigation and with their help, Eels officials are confident the racial bigots will be found today.

Meanwhile, Civoniceva's heartbroken father called for Parramatta officials to take harsh action against spectators who racially taunted his son.

Civoniceva, the Penrith Captain, was allegedly called a" monkey" and told to "get back in your tree" by a group of Parramatta supporters as the home side crashed to a 22-16 loss.
