A number of disciplinary cases have been lost due to ignorance of procedures and laxity on the part of the Ministries and this must be improved.

These are the words of Permanent Secretary for PSC Parmesh Chand at the second Disciplinary Prosecutors Workshop attended by senior government officials at the Nasova Police Barracks this morning.

Chand said the business of addressing disciplinary cases in the civil service can be both time and resource consuming, and given the increasing number of cases that are being brought before the Commission, there is now an urgent need to speed up things and have the case handled in the correct way and with full legal compliance.

Chand added there are too many loop-holes on the government side, and there is a need to tighten up on the prosecution process, as it is stringently connected to the process of good decision making.

The workshop ends this afternoon.
