Many public servants have gone home after the acting Permanent Secretary for Public Service Commission Peni Ratumaitavuki advised them of the tsunami warning in place early this morning.

In a circular issued, Ratumaitavuki advised all the heads of Departments and Ministries to use their discretion and see if there is a need to send civil servants home.

All the civil servants working and living along low lying areas were advised to move to higher ground.

In his circular, Ratumaitavuki emphasized that the safety and security of government employees is of paramount importance and all the head of departments and ministries are to ensure that all government properties were stored away safely.
