Civil servants in departments that deal with the general public on a daily basis will now have to base their lunch time around the demand of the public.
Permanent Secretary for the Public service Commission Parmesh Chand said that following the instructions from the Prime Minister to implement flexi hours, the heads of departments have been briefed as to what steps to take to ensure better service delivery.
Chand said that they have been told to start a roster system to ensure that the public is never left waiting.
Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama told PSC to start implementing the Flexi Hour system after his tour to the West earlier last month where he noted that whenever civil servants go for lunch, the public had to wait.
