Civil servants in the province of Naitasiri should change the way they work.
This is the message from the Commissioner Central, Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga while addressing the members of the Naitasiri Provincial Council.
Colonel Tikoitoga said in most of the investigations that have been carried out, people in senior posts in Government and in private companies take advantage of the authority they have, to misuse funds for development purposes.
The Commissioner added that the civil servants should assist the villagers and guide them through, rather than misleading them with incorrect information.
Colonel Tikoitoga said in most cases the benefits do not reach everybody in the society, but only the elite few, and stressed that if this was the case in the province, then it is time for people to change the way in which they operate.
The Naitasiri Provincial Council Meeting continues today in Nausori.
