The civil service reforms will go ahead and the unions cannot stop the interim government's decision on the 5 percent pay cut, no COLA payments and retirement age to be at 55 years.

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said the interim administration is now focusing on ensuring that all civil servants do honest full days work before the next step is taken.

He said there can no longer be demands year in year out on pay increments without improving efficiency in the workforce.
