Civil Service Public Week to create public awareness
Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Commission Parmesh Chand said the Prime Minister wants the Civil Service Week to be held earlier in the year to ensure that members of the public are fully aware of the work of the ministries and the changes that are being brought about through reforms.
For Suva, the ministries will have booths at Sukuna Park from today to Friday.
However, Chand stressed that there will be no road closure, grog drinking or playing cards at the ministry booths as directed by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Chand said it is important for members of the public to visit the ministry booths and ask questions about civil service delivery.
Chand said the exhibition this year will also double up as Career's Expo for students, as the timing coincides with the second term school commencement.
Commodore Bainimarama will officially open the Civil Service Week just after 9am today at Sukuna Park after the civil servants march from the Suva Flea market.
