The interim Minister for Health has today rebutted the recommendation in the Draft Peoples Charter released by the NCBBF who said the Public Service is too large for a small nation.
In an interview with Fijivillage, Doctor Luveni said that while it may seem that the Draft Charter is in place to streamline the public sector it does not fully understand the plight of the Health Sector.
Luveni also added that in Pillar Four where it states that political influence should be removed, she said it should be relooked at as unions and political parties are the ones that are served by the public sector and therefore have a say in the way they should be served.
She also said that for the public sector to function properly, dialogue needs to be done between the two parties as the Public Sector would need feedback from the people in order to know what needs to be done.
