A total of 100 complaints against civil servants have been recorded with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for this year alone.

FICAC Deputy Commissioner George Langman said this number is just for the past two months.

Meanwhile, since their inception on April 4th 2007, the Commission received 4595 complaints with 54 people charged with corruption.

However, Langman added they have been able to convict only one civil servant from Labasa with abuse of office, who was sent to jail for 18 months.

He added having a first conviction after charging 35 people in 2008 is a step forward for them as they currently have a few pending cases in court.
