A civil servant appeared in Court this morning and pleaded guilty to two counts of larceny by servant.

The Court heard that between January 2003 to March 2008, Lydia Hing took an IBM Laptop valued at $1,500 while being employed as an Executive Officer at the Government ITC services.

Magistrate Eparama Rokoika also heard that on the second count, between May and August of this year, Hing took a cash box valued at $41.78 while working at the Fiji College of Agriculture.

In mitigation, Hing asked for a reduced sentence as all the items had been recovered and she also revealed that she had written to the Permanent Secretary asking for forgiveness and that she was a single mum supporting her parents and her 10 year old son.

The matter has been adjourned to the 25th of next month for sentencing.
