The Citizens Constitutional Forum stresses that a civil servant convicted of corruption should never be reappointed to any senior position in government after reports that former Agriculture Ministry Permanent Secretary Peniasi Kunatuba, who is serving a four year prison sentence for corruption, would be attached to the Prime Minister’s Office under the Yellow Ribbon project.

Executive Director Reverand Akuila Yabaki said while they support the Yellow Ribbon Project and believe ex-prisoners deserve a fresh start, we will be breaking the principles of good governance if senior people convicted of corruption related crimes are accepted back into government.

However, Public Service Commission Permanent Secretary for Public Service Taina Tagicakibau stresses that these are just speculations at this stage.
