Suva will be the first city in the world come March 29 to switch off their power for one hour for Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is a worldwide initiative which will see the whole country participating in the event by switching off unnecessary power for an hour. Here in Fiji it will start at 9pm.
Dale Withington the South Pacific Program Director for WWF said that Suva will be the leaders in the special event.
The event which saw Sydeny siders and 21 000 businesses turn off their power last year will see unnecessary lights such as business signs switched off.
However, Withington adds that after talks with the Suva City Council, all security lights will remain on and there will be a heavy police presence during this hour.
