The City of Shanghai, China has reaffirmed its support for Fiji's social and economic growth following talks between Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Mayor of Shanghai Han Zheng today.
Zheng said Shanghai is more than willing to grow economic, social and political relationship between Fiji and has offered more cooperation towards Fiji.
At the meeting Commodore Bainimarama also took the opportunity to invite the Shanghai municipal council to take advantage of Fiji tourism environment given the introduction of direct flights from Nadi to Hong Kong.
Bainimarama also recalled the experience of the Beijing Olympics said the success of the World Expo would be the same as the Olympic Games hosted by China.
The Prime Minister said the Expo is also an opportunity to entice Chinese investors to invest in Fiji.
Meanwhile, Fiji is the center of focus at the Shanghai Expo as today is the designated AFiji Day@ and Commodore Bainimarama is leading the high powered delegation to the Expo.
