The 109 residents on Cikobia Island are now faced with a grim situation as lack of clean drinking water and poor sanitation continues to increase the risk of water borne diseases.
Returning from Cikobia late yesterday after getting a firsthand view of the damages caused by Hurricane Daman, Red Cross Divisional Service Coordinator Victor Kissun said there are serious concerns for the welfare of the villagers.
The MV Iloilovatu left last night for Cikobia carrying additional supplies after the first round of emergency packs were delivered yesterday to the island.
Meanwhile, Natural Waters of Fiji is believed to be making arrangements to provide emergency water supplies to Cikobia.
