Team Fiji Weightlifter Eileen Cikamatana has won Fiji’s second gold in the 63kg, 69kg weight category at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia, Samoa.
The 15‑year‑old from Taviya, Ovalau is part of the Oceania Talent Identification Program in New Caledonia.
Eileen also participated at the recent Pacific Games and was Team Fiji's Flag Bearer.
Meanwhile, Maria Mareta settled with a silver medal in the 58kg weight category.
Maria managed a lift of 70kg in the Clean and Jerk and 57 kg in the Snatch with a total of 127kg lifted.
Team Fiji Weightlifting Manager Joe Vueti said this was a personal best for Maria.
In Archery, Fiji’s Marilyn Elder was placed ninth with 185 points after the first round of matches.
Despite going up against some of the Commonwealth's best archers, Marilyn managed to stay composed and played her best.
In swimming, Team Fiji Swimmers have created new national records.
Taichi Vakasama and Epeli Rabua both established new records in the mens 400 metres Individual Medley and the 100 metres breaststroke.
Taichi recorded a new national 5 to 16 age group time of 4 minutes 56 seconds in the 400 metres Individual Medley with Epeli setting a new national men's open record in the Men's 100m breaststroke with a time of 1 minute 7.52s beating the previous time of 1 minute 8.08s.
Taichi beat his old record of 5.05.79s and he also swam in the Heats of the 100m breaststroke doing a credible time.
Meanwhile Epeli has qualified for the B final that will be held this evening, Adi Kinisimere Naivalu swam in the 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke and has qualified for the B Final of the 50 Backstroke.
