The major church denominations have denied using young boys to collect money on the main streets of Suva.

The Methodist, Catholic, Anglican and the Assembly of God Churches say they have not organised any boys to collect money for their respective churches.

Queries were made by Fijivillage, upon noticing young boys walking around with cans and asking money from motorists near the traffic lights near FIT Samabula over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary for the Methodist Church of Fiji, Rev Ame Tugawe has advised the public to ask the collectors which group they represent and what purpose the donation will serve.

Fijivillage is still trying to get confirmation on who the boys are representing as they are telling people that they are collecting money for their church.

Also, Save the Children Fiji said children should not be used to collect money since it is not safe for them.
