The Methodist Church is disappointed that government has cancelled the Solevu to collect funds planned for this Saturday.

Assistant General Secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said they have not received any official notification regarding the decision from government and only heard of its cancellation through the media.

Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said government found out that the church was planning to do other things that would have breached the conditions of their permit.

Leweni said government will not entertain further talks or requests from the church.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the Methodist Church in California is expected to be in Suva this week, bringing with them their SOLI.

Nawadra said yesterday that the group from California will open their SOLI while the members from Australia will close the conference with their presentation and its known whether they were aware of the decision from government yesterday.
