The Methodist Church of Fiji will ensure first that all members of the church respect Sunday before proposing the issue of Sunday ban to the city and town councils.
Assistant General secretary Rev Tuikilakila Waqairatu said the church will stand by the statement to have a Sunday Ban in place.
Earlier today Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama stressed that the Methodist Church's proposed ban on Sunday trading for all towns and cities will not go ahead as majority of the people in the country oppose the idea.
Commodore Bainimarama said the church executives are just going backwards by calling for the Sunday ban.
The Methodist Church of Fiji has resolved to request all town and city councils around the country to ensure that no business is permitted to open on Sunday and any other day significant in the Christian calender.
