27 Methodist church ministers are expected to appear in court this morning to answer to charges for allegedly breaching the public emergency regulations.

The 27 include Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi, Reverend Mansa Lasaro, Reverend Ame Tugaue and Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, Reverend Immanuel Rueben and Reverend William Lucas.

In the last court sitting the different Church Ministers and Executives were charged for the same offence, however a single trial will now run for all the 27 Ministers and Executives.

It is expected that a hearing date will be decided today.

Rev Tugaue and Rev Waqairatu are facing charges of organizing a Methodist Church standing committee meeting, which allegedly breached the Public Emergency Regulation, while the other 25 Ministers and Executives are charged with participating in the meeting which breached the PER.    

The case will be heard at nine this morning.
