Executives of the Methodist Church are tightlipped on the meeting held with Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama this morning on the decision by the RFMF and the Police to cancel the annual Methodist Church Conference.

A meeting took place this morning between Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and the Methodist Church on the cancellation of the Conference.

However, when approached by Fijivillage, General Secretary Tuikilakila Waqairatu said they could not reveal what was said at the meeting adding that discussions between the two parties are still ongoing.

The meeting was attended by Bainimarama and other government officials, General Secretary Waiqairatu and Methodist Church President Ame Tugawe.

The RFMF and Police ordered that the annual conference will not go ahead and stated that in the past few months, certain figurehead members of the Methodist Church have tried to bring instability to the country by using the Church.

Permanent Secretary for Information Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni is expected to issue a statement later this afternoon.
