The Methodist Church of Fiji will not support the People's Charter process because it believes that this is an illegal act being performed by the interim government.

While responding to the Interim Prime Minister's statement questioning the church executives on why they are opposing a good document like the Charter, Church General Secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu said the interim administration should just take Fiji to elections under the current system.

The Interim Prime Minister has questioned the leaders of the Methodist Church of Fiji why they are opposing the draft Charter, as nothing will stop the People's Charter process.

Following revelations from the Methodist Church that they are distributing their own forms to their members to sign to show that they oppose the Charter, Bainimarama said people should not follow the church leaders but make their own decisions.

He stresses that the leaders of the church should also realize that they cannot stop the Charter process.
