About four Methodist Church of Fiji executives and Rewa's paramount chief Ro Teimumu Kepa are currently being questioned by the police.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said they have been taken in following breaches of the permit given to the church to go ahead with the standing committee meeting last Friday.
Bainimarama said they have also discovered that the Methodist Church ministers have told their congregation that the conference will go ahead this year.
He said this is a clear breach of the Public Emergency Regulation.
Commodore Bainimarama confirmed that Ro Teimumu Kepa is still being questioned by the police.
He said they have found out that Ro Teimumu is also telling people that the conference will go ahead although no permit has been granted for the meet.
The Prime Minister also stressed that no permit will be issued for the Methodist Church Conference this year and he does not understand why the church executives want to apply for another permit.
Commodore Bainimarama confirmed that Reverends Manasa Lasaro, Tomasi Kanailagi and Tuikilakila Waqairatu are also being questioned by the police about breaches to the PER and the permit for last Friday's standing committee meeting.
Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni is yet to comment on the investigations.
