The Executives of the Methodist Church of Fiji will meet this evening to decide whether they will allow their members to have the final say on the draft Peoples Charter or to remain firm on the Church's stance to reject the Charter.

Earlier today a group of top ranking police officers who are members of the Methodist Church met with the Church executives raising their concern on the way the church is imposing its stand on members to oppose the draft Peoples Charter.

General Secretary, Reverand Tuikilakila Waqairatu has confirmed that the church has received legal and police advise on the matter and will now meet to decide what is their next step.

Waqairatu confirmed that the Church's views on why they are against the Charter have been given out to the 51 circuits who will distribute it amongst their members in the next two weeks.

Each individual Methodist Church circuit in the country will fill in a form from their own congregation with members' signatures in opposing the draft charter before it will be collected by the church headquarters to show the interim government the number of people who are against the charter.

The Church earlier advised members to refrain from signing the charter response forms and instead sign on the Church forms to show that they reject the draft Peoples Charter.
