Church Execs Meet Bainimarama
Our News Director Vijay Narayan who is at QEB confirmed that Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, Reverend Manasa Lasaro, former President of the Methodist Church Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi with other Church ministers arrived for the meeting a little after three o'clock this afternoon.
These church leaders were meeting with Commodore Bainimarama when the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca arrived about half an hour later and joined the meeting.
Soon after the meeting, the Deputy Secretary for Information Major Neumi Leweni has confirmed that the meeting was held after an invitation by the members of the Methodist Church to hold talks with Commodore Bainimarama and the military officers.
Major Leweni confirmed that the main topic on the agenda was the differences between the Methodist Church and the RFMF and one major issue is making sure that everyone is united to move the country forward through the People's Charter.
Major Leweni also confirmed that also present at the meeting were all senior officers of the Fiji Military Force.
He said the two parties have agreed to have further meetings to discuss these matters. While the meeting proper has ended, the members of the Methodist Church are still at the Officer’s Mess with members of the RFMF.
