The significant meeting between the executives of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has just come to an end at the Officer’s Mess at Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB), Nabua.

Our News Director Vijay Narayan who is at QEB confirmed that Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, Reverend Manasa Lasaro, former President of the Methodist Church Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi with other Church ministers arrived for the meeting a little after three o'clock this afternoon.

These church leaders were meeting with Commodore Bainimarama when the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca arrived about half an hour later and joined the meeting.

Soon after the meeting, the Deputy Secretary for Information Major Neumi Leweni has confirmed that the meeting was held after an invitation by the members of the Methodist Church to hold talks with Commodore Bainimarama and the military officers.

Major Leweni confirmed that the main topic on the agenda was the differences between the Methodist Church and the RFMF and one major issue is making sure that everyone is united to move the country forward through the People's Charter.

About seven Methodist ministers were meeting with the leaders of the church at the Centenary Church in Suva ahead of their meeting with the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama this afternoon.

Present at the meeting were church President, Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca, Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu and Reverand Manasa Lasaro.

The significant meeting is expected to take place at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks this afternoon when the Methodist Church of Fiji ministers meet with Commodore Bainimarama.

When contacted this morning, the president of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca said he is unsure who called the meeting and he couldn’t confirm whether he would attend this afternoon's meeting.

Reliable sources confirm that some of the Methodist ministers had requested an audience with the Interim Prime Minister to hear from him on his plans to move the nation forward.

The Methodist Church leaders are expected to meet at 10 o’clock this morning before they meet with Commodore Bainimarama this afternoon.

When contacted this morning, president of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca said he is unsure who called the meeting and he cannot confirm whether he will attend this afternoon's meeting.

It is understood that some of the Methodist Church ministers had requested an audience with the interim Prime Minister to hear from him his plans to move the nation forward.
