The Methodist Church of Fiji has clarified that the decision to ask Fijian Holdings Chief Executive Officer Sereana Qoro to resign from the Navuloa Methodist Church committee was made by the church elders and the committee and not by the Methodist Church Standing Committee.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Assistant General Secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu said the decision was reached by the Navuloa Church after they felt that it would be better for her to stay out of the committee.

Reverend Waqairatu added that Qoro and Loraine Tevi's case are different because Tevi was a member of the Church Standing Committee which is opposing the People's Charter and the National Council For Building a Better Fiji (NCBBF) and it was the decision of the church to ask Tevi to resign.

He added that Tevi's work in the NCBBF was contradicting the church's views and they had no other option but to ask her to resign.
