The Oceania Football Confederation has come out saying that the performance by Fiji at this year’s FIFA Under 20 World Cup no doubt played a role in influencing the FIFA Executive Committee to award OFC additional slots at the FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups.
When questioned whether OFC President David Chung was attempting to influence the outcome of Fiji Football Association elections by praising Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel, the OFC stated that Chung was only acknowledging Patel with his statement on Fiji’s influence to get extra slots for OFC.
Rewa soccer President, Nazeel Buksh has questioned OFC President David Chung on his comments where he has praised Patel.
Buksh says by publicly praising Rajesh Patel on the eve of Fiji FA elections, Chung may have compromised his neutrality as the president of OFC.
Chung recently stated that in the past four years the Fiji FA has been working hard at getting the basics right and they are now proving they are on to a winning formula.
Chung says strong leadership shown by Patel has raised Fiji’s football profile around the world and he has proven himself more than capable in his role at the head of Fiji football.
