In an effort to cheer up the less fortunate, a Christmas event has been organized by the Women and the Social Welfare Ministry in conjunction with some other organizations.
Interim Minister Adi Laufitu Malani said while most people are thinking of what to buy for themselves for Christmas, they have decided to have Christmas on the Park from Christmas Eve at 6pm ending on Christmas Day at 6am at Suva's Sukuna Park.
She said the idea came up while working with the displaced people.
Adi Laufitu said Christmas is a time when the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated and this signifies a time for giving. She said many companies and Organizations have sponsored the event.
The event will see carol singing accompanied by the Fiji Military Band, lighting of the Christmas tree, skits, dramas, testimonies, prayers, gifts for the children of displaced people of Suva and breakfast for everyone.
