Easter Week starts proper this weekend, with the celebration of Children's Sunday or Palm Sunday, a time when Jesus Christ is welcomed into the city of Jerusalem as the King of all people.
The General Secretary of the Methodist Church Reverend Ame Tugawe said Methodists and Catholics alike celebrate Palm Sunday or Children's Sunday because of its significance in the Christian calendar.
Christians around the country will be celebrating Children's Sunday or Palm Sunday, especially the children who are expected to wear white and lead the church services this Sunday.
Children's Sunday or Palm Sunday is the start of Holy Week whereby Christians everywhere commemorate the last days of Jesus Christ on earth from his grand entrance into Jerusalem this Sunday, his last meal with his 12 apostles on Holy Thursday, his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
