Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday received a donation of FJD$50,000 from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China located in Suva.
Chinese Ambassador Dr Han Zhiqiang presented the donation to the Prime Minister at Government Buildings yesterday.
China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi sent a message to his counterpart Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
Minister Yang said that he was shocked to learn of Fiji's recent disaster from Hurricane Tomas, which caused severe loss of property.
He believed that the Fiji people would conquer the disaster and rebuild their homes under the leadership of the Fiji Government.
The Chinese government also gave a donation of US$50,000 (FJ$96, 000) for emergency humanitarian aid through the Red Cross Society of Fiji.
The Chinese Ambassador said the donations showed that the Chinese people are always standing with Fiji, and wished Fiji's disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts the soonest success.
