China Railway Construction Company who today signed a contract with the Housing Authority for the construction of low cost housing on 169 acres of land in Tacirua East Stage 2 has given their word that they will employ locals.
Company Managing Director, Huang Wangtao said since they are going to be constructing low cost housing, it is also part of their plan to pass on their knowledge to locals.
China Railway was also the contractor for the Naqali Bridge which was opened earlier this year, with Wangtao revealing that they had finished construction two months before the proposed date of completion.
The Housing Authority this morning signed a commercial contract with the China Railway Company that will see the construction of 900 housing units and 1,050 single lots between Tacirua and Nepani which is expected to begin by the end of the month.
The contract of $50 million between the Authority and China Railway is part of the $70 million Chinese Government's concessional loan to Fiji.
