The Children's Heart Foundation today received a boost to their campaign in sending children with congenital heart disorder for treatment overseas, after the Vodafone ATH Foundation handed over a cheque of over $330,000.

Chairman of the Children’s Heart Foundation Doctor Poonsami Goundar said the cheque is the third donation to the foundation from Vodafone ATH and has seen close to $1 million in donations received this year.

Doctor Goundar added that since the set-up of the foundation in 2006, 30 children have been treated successfully and only two deaths so far.

These deaths according to Dr Goundar were regrettable as the two young children died en-route to treatment at the Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Chennai in India.

Earlier last month, 3 children with heart disorders returned from India after successful operations and Dr Goundar said it is a joy to see the children run around after getting treatment.
