Poverty alone is not the cause for children dropping out of schools.
These are the words of the Foundation of the Needy Children in Fiji National Coordinator, Irshaad Ali who said a review process currently carried out by FENC Fiji volunteers shows that there a number of reasons why children drop out of schools.
Ali said some of these factors are lack of emphasis on education, food security and living conditions.
Ali said so far they have assisted more than 900 children around the country and requests for more assistance are increasing.
Meanwhile, a training programme will be conducted in the Northern Division to equip volunteers with basic skills of conducting interviews, assessing home and family situations and engaging with families.
