Whether it is one case of child exploitation or a hundred, the underlying fact is that there is a problem and it must be addressed for the sake of our children.
These are the sentiments of Save the Children CEO Chandra Shekar at the inaugural Save the Children symposium currently being held at JJ's on the Park where stakeholders are discussing ways of working collectively to address issues regarding children.
Shekar said the existence of child exploitation is a reality and cannot be ignored.
Shekar said another major worry is that many cases of child exploitation and abuse have shown that the perpetrator is a person known to the child.
Meanwhile Shekar revealed that they are still awaiting the latest report on Child Sexual Exploitation compiled by the ILO in 2009 which is set to be released soon.
The two day symposium continues this afternoon.
